Science Olympiad Division B is a premier national STEM competition designed specifically for middle school
students in grades six through eight. Throughout the academic year, teams of up to fifteen members prepare
intensively to compete in twenty-three diverse events that challenge their academic knowledge, teamwork, and
practical problem-solving skills. These rigorous events span a wide array of core disciplines, including
life science, earth and space science, physical science, chemistry, technology, engineering, and scientific
inquiry.
The 2027 Science Olympiad Division B features diverse events like Anatomy & Physiology and Boomilever.
These events span various scientific fields, including life and earth sciences, and include hands-on
"build events" focused on constructing specific devices.
Science Olympiad has four progressive competition levels: Invitationals for practice, Regionals for local
area competition, States for qualifying regional teams, and Nationals where top state teams nationwide
compete for the ultimate national title.
State Science Olympiad websites provide a central page linking to all 50 individual US state sites, which
offer local news, tournament dates, team registration, and Division B event information.
